INCOHST, proudly organized by Nawaloka College of Higher Studies and sponsored by Swinburne University of Technology, is Sri Lanka’s premier All-Island School IoT Innovation Competition. Having commenced in 2018, INCOHST is an annual competition and 2025 celebrates the 6th competition.

This groundbreaking event is designed to inspire young minds across the nation to harness the power of the Internet of Things (IoT) and bring their innovative ideas to life. INCOHST serves as a platform for students to showcase their creativity, problem-solving skills, and technical expertise while addressing real-world challenges.

INCOHST 2024

    Create IoT-powered experiences in parks, stadiums, and public spaces using interactive digital displays, AR/VR, and automated event management. Develop IoT-based games that enhance public engagement through smart sensors, real-time data, and immersive experiences.

  • Smart Environment

    Develop IoT solutions for real-time air and water quality monitoring, automated waste management, and smart energy-saving systems.

  • Smart Transportation

    Design intelligent public transport solutions with real-time tracking, automated ticketing, and eco-friendly transport monitoring.

  • Smart Security

    Build IoT-based security systems with smart surveillance, AI-powered threat detection, and emergency response automation.

Competition Guidelines INCOHST 2025

  • Each team should consist of 3 to 5 members.
  • Each school may submit only 1 team for the competition.
  • Your project must address a real-world issue currently affecting the public, utilizing IoT solutions.
  • All required components for the project presentation must be brought by each team.
  • INCOHST will not be responsible for any incomplete setups or missing items

Unless stated explicitly in the event information, the Secretariat do not cover transport costs to and from events. It is your responsibility to arrange transport to and from the event. However, the Secretariat will provide specific information, if necessary, to those attending.

  • All presentations must be in English (mandatory)
  • Every team member is required to actively participate and have a defined role in the project development
  • Teams should present their innovation using a PowerPoint presentation, video, or live demonstration. Please ensure your files are stored on a USB drive for easy access.
  • Each team must have a working prototype that demon strates the main functions of their innovation.

Projects will be assessed on the following:

  • Relevance of the issue addressed
  • Practicality of the solution
  • Functionality of the prototype
  • Presentation skills
  • All judges’ decisions are final
  • Teams must arrive with their prototypes 100% completed for the competition

Project Proposal Submission

Once ideas are refined during the workshops, participants will submit their detailed project proposals. These proposals will outline the concept, objectives, and potential impact of their innovative IoT solutions, serving as the foundation for the next stages of the competition NCHS will provide the project proposals to participants after the workshop for their reference and further development.

Workshop Series

The INCOHST workshop series is designed to ignite creativity and guide students through the idea generation process. These workshops, conducted by experts from Swinburne University of Technology, provide participants with the knowledge and tools to refine their concepts. Students will also have the opportunity to ask questions and seek support from NCHS, ensuring they are fully prepared to excel in the competition.
